The search for India's best dancer came to an end when 21-year-old Rajasmita Kar was declared the winner at the grand finale of Zee TV's dance reality show ‘Dance India Dance Season 3’ on Saturday night.

 

The Odisha girl walked away with sunehri taqdeer ki topi after beating Pradeep Gurung, Raghav Crockroaz Juyal, Sanam Johar, and Mohena Singh.

 

Hosts Saumya Tandon and Jay Bhanushali opened the show with their dance performances. The judges and mentors Geeta Kapoor, Remo D'Souza and Terence Lewis also created magic with their spectacular acts, while grand master Mithun Chakraborty was seen applauding the performances.

 

An excited Rajasmita exclaimed with teary eyes, “I’ve gone crazy with joy that I’ve received this sunehri taqdeer ki topi. I had never even imagined this in my dreams. This has come out of all the hard work I had put into it along with Geeta Maa. I want to thank her for the efforts she put in for me and for all the lovely acts I was given to perform.”

 

She goes on to add, “When I had auditioned for DID in Kolkatta, I didn’t even know I’d reach this far. I had only prayed to god that I want to see a bit of myself on TV in the mega auditions. But I came this far from top 18 to top 5 and I’ve won. This is unbelievable!”

 

The highlight performances of the finale were the ‘Mardi Grass Carnival’ by Jay Bhanushali and Saumya Tandon. Master Terence Lewis presented an act on Jim Morrison on the track ‘Sadda haq’. Master Geeta Kapur’s made a grand entry on a huge crown, while Master Remo D Souza’s hard hitting hip-hop infused freestyle act on the song ‘Zara Dil ko Tham Lo’ from the movie Don 2.

 

One astounding act was by Rajasmita 24 dancers along with Rajasmita hung mid-air with the help of a truss. Sanam Johar did a jaw-dropping mirror ball act, while Mohena performed with a huge Venetian mask. Raghav Crockroaz Juyal performed with a huge crocodile’s face as a prop and last but not the least, Pradeep Gurung’s  ‘Shaolin’ act infused with freestyle won many hearts in the evening.
